The Echoes Of Kingston tour came up to Santa Rosa in Northern California, and we were there to catch it all.
The Delirians opened up the show, soon joined by the one and only Queen P(Persephone Laird of Ocean 11). They wowed the crowd with their crisp renditions of classic Treasure Isle tunes. That Queen P’s voice was so beautiful over The Delerians groove, one couldn’t help but be swept away by it all.
Next up, Maddie Ruthless stepped on the stage backed by The Forthrights. On tour all the way from New Orleans, she declared she was about to kill a soundboy. Thunder shook, lighting struck, and a full on musical assault ensued. She sure knows how to command the stage!
After Maddie did her thing, she left the stage victorious, and The Forthright from New York showed us Northern California folk what Brooklyn Rocksteady is all about. Jack Wright laid into that keyboard and started bubbling, Matt Birdie cracked the snare, and they were off into a heavy set of rocksteady, ska, and reggae. Watching Jimmy Doyle, and Sammy Kay, play off one another on guitar and bass, it’s easy to see why they work so well. Just another day in the park, yet so impressive.
A huge thanks goes out to Ray, Jimmy Boom, Liz, Dennis, and everyone at Strange Manor for letting us all crash, and cooking up such delicious food!
