Tokyo Ska Jamboree Vol. 2 taking place August 7th!
Last year, in celebration of their 20 years, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra held the first Tokyo Ska Jamboree, basically a music festival dedicated to ska music. Two of America’s finest ska bands, the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble and See Spot, were there to partake in the first Tokyo Ska Jamboree, and by all accounts, it seemed like an amazing event!
Well, in about two weeks, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra will be throwing the 2nd annual Tokyo Ska Jamboree! The event this year seems to be a little more low key than last year’s event, but still consists of a lineup that many would die for…
In addition to Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra (well, duh, it’s their events), Tsuyoshi Kawakami & His Moodmakers, the rocksteady focused TSPO side band, Desorden Publico from Venezuela, Rude Rich & His Highnotes from the Netherlands, and Dennis Bovell will be sharing the stage for this year’s Tokyo Ska Jamboree!
If you happen to be in Japan that week, make sure you catch this even…if not, well, we can all wish, right?
For more information, visit the Tokyo Ska Jamboree website (in Japanese).
I’m including a Youtube clip of the event last year…supposedly, at the end of the event, more than 80 musicians got on stage played a couple of songs…pretty neat stuff.
P.S., I also think that the poster for this year’s event is pretty neat!
