GO FEET! Radio#80 Rockin It Steady With DJ Mossman

GO FEET! Radio presents:
Rockin’ it Steady with DJ Mossman
Episode #80, 12 April 2010
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, DJ Mossman is known for spinning rare and unreleased tracks of Jamaican ska, rocksteady and early reggae. With multiple album releases under his belt, he also runs his own label Dispensation. DJing regularly in Toronto and New York, Mossman has performed around the world at events such as the Montreal Reggae Festival, and worked with legendary artists including The Maytones, Lynn Taitt, Albarosie, and Michael Rose of Black Uhuru.
Recently Mossman completed production on the Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae doco movie and soundtrack. The documentary is a musical journey into Jamaica’s Golden Age of music. The film features the music and stories of the legendary singers and musicians of the rocksteady era coming together after 40 years to record an album of rocksteady hits, and perform an All-Stars reunion concert in Kingston, Jamaica.
I heard somehow that he was heading downunder to Australia so I jumped at the opportunity of inviting him to New Zealand and BAM!, he came! Well, ok, I can’t be credited with getting him here by myself but I’m so glad he came. To have his records grace our station’s humble record player was one thing, but to hear some of the out takes from the sound track ‘Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae,’ well that was something else. Other suprizes on the two and a half hour show was having Captain Nemo in the studio, and later Allan, but equally cool was having Mohair Slim call in from Melbourne, Australia and Pat from Pamamoa, too much brothers, thanks for the support.
